My name is Sonia Lali, and like many of you, I’m navigating my own perimenopause journey.

Menopause was never something I gave much thought to. It was something that happened later, to other women. But then, little things started shifting—my energy wasn’t as steady, my body felt different, and, for some reason, I couldn’t tolerate wine the way I used to (which, honestly, felt a little personal). I brushed it off as stress, as aging, as just one of those things. Until one day, I felt like I woke up 10 pounds heavier without changing a thing, and my breasts felt like I was back in puberty. I literally felt like a stranger in my own skin—bloated, exhausted, and completely out of sync with myself.

So, I started searching for answers. Eventually, I learned I had insulin resistance—a common but rarely talked about challenge during perimenopause. That discovery changed everything. Suddenly, my body’s signals made sense. It wasn’t betraying me; it was talking to me. And for the first time, I truly started listening.

What shocked me most wasn’t just the changes I was experiencing, but the silence surrounding them. Why weren’t we talking about this? Why did menopause feel like some mysterious chapter no one prepared us for? The more I opened up, the more I realized I wasn’t alone. Women everywhere were navigating a whirlwind of physical and emotional changes—mood swings, night sweats, shifting weight, and more—wondering why they suddenly felt disconnected from themselves.

And then one day it hit me: this phase of life isn’t something to suffer through—it’s a wake-up call. A chance to reconnect with our bodies, redefine our priorities, and step into a new kind of strength.

With a background in Psychology, a Master’s in Social Work, and certifications in Life Coaching and Menopause Wellness, I am dedicated to shifting the narrative around this natural transition. Perimenopause isn’t something to fear or endure—it’s a time of transformation, renewal, and possibility. I want to help you move beyond the outdated scripts and see this phase for what it truly is: a chance to step into your strength, embrace who you are, and create a life that feels more aligned with your authentic self.

This passion also led me to The Menopause Mission, a local nonprofit dedicated to educating and supporting women through this journey. Together, we’re changing the conversation—so every woman feels seen, heard, and empowered.
